Best functional watch available July 28, 2010 Gary Ferrebee 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great watch for the money. Yes, you can't look cool wearing it - its very basic all black plastic styling screams "NERD". But i have yet to see a watch with as much functionality at any price. Not only multi-function stopwatch, alarm, multiple time zones, 50 meter water protection, but an extremely useful repeating countdown timer that I can't find in any other design - nothing like it for timing stretches or checking walking/running pace, or timing active/rest times for lifting. Once you own this watch, you won't ever want to be without it. This is my third one - one died after about 10 years, the second had the support bracket for the band break after about 5 years - not bad for a $20.00 watch that was continually in use. After checking Walmart and Target I assumed it was not longer being made and bought another Casio model. A decent watch but with much less functionality. Finding that this one was still available from Amazon was like Christmas in July! Can't wait for it to arrive.
If you are image conscious, you may need a 'dress watch' as well (it certainly is not a fashion statement), but as a practical extremely useful everyday watch is has no peer.
My second one! July 24, 2010 Richard T. Nicolls (Seattle) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my second purchase of this exact same model Casio Men's W71-1V Classic Digital Watch. I wore my first one constantly for over 15 years and it was still working fine, except the strap pin hole broke out on one side and a band could no longer be attached. I like this watch as it has a smaller footprint and is thinner than most digital watches while still performing all of the functions expected of a digital watch. A real bargain.
The Casio W71-1V is great for running July 16, 2010 Edward Edmonds 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a competitive runner, I find Casio W71-1V to be a very simple yet functional device for such an inexpensive price. This model has all a runner really needs: a thin profile, a countdown timer, and a standard stop-watch.
The countdown timer is programmable from 1 second to 24 hours and will reset or reset and restart depending on your preference.
The stop-watch is accurate to 1/100th of a second and operates typically.
The profile of the Casio W71-1V is 8.0mm -- thinner than other Casio watches with half the feature set.
5 stars.
If you are looking for something just as inexpensive, the Casio F201WA-1A is another alternative. It adds 5 alarms to the feature-set but has larger dimensions and a thicker profile. Interestingly it weighs less than the W71-1V.

Old reliable June 25, 2010 L. Schwartz (Dobbs Ferry, NY) Casio keeps chrurning out classic digital watches; great for casual wear, light and thin, reliable.
W71-1v June 13, 2010 Silvia Great Watch for the price. It has a lot of functions, comparable to more expensive watches. Great classic look and fits very well.
